EDUCATOR. ADVOCATE. LIFELONG PUBLIC SERVANT

Support our Families. Invest in Education. Respect for Veterans Always.

Dr. Benny Rodriguez is a tough-minded, well-respected, award-winning

public servant who has dedicated more than 31 years to service as a

teacher, athletic coach, school counselor, and principal—and nearly a

decade as a national education advocate working directly with Congress

and the U.S. Senate in Washington, D.C. Benny is running for Congress

to bring experienced, accountable leadership to Arizona’s 6th District and

to deliver results for working families, rural communities, veterans, and

students.

Born in Prescott, Arizona, and raised in Duncan in Greenlee County,

Benny comes from a family whose roots in Southern Arizona date back to

the 1800s. His grandparents were farmers and ranchers who taught him

the value of hard work, integrity, and service. His grandmother, Rosa,

served as the nanny to Sandra Day O’Connor, the first woman appointed

to the U.S. Supreme Court—an experience that instilled in Benny a

lifelong belief in education, perseverance, and public service. Public

service runs deep in Benny’s family. His father served as a U.S. Army

helicopter crew chief during the Vietnam era before becoming an

educator. His mother raised three children while returning to school and

dedicating her career to education. Inspired by their example, Benny

committed his life to serving students, families, veterans, and

communities across Arizona.

Over 20 years as a school principal, Benny led schools through complex

challenges, improved academic outcomes, strengthened school safety,

expanded mental health supports, and built systems of accountability that

delivered measurable results. His leadership earned statewide and national

recognition, including Arizona Principal of the Year and National

Principal of the Year honors.

Benny also brings real Washington experience. As an elected leader with the National Association of

Secondary School Principals, he served as Arizona’s State Coordinator and later as Chair of the NASSP Audit

Committee, overseeing more than $32 million in annual operations. In that role, he worked directly with

members of Congress and Senate offices to advocate for students, educators, and families nationwide.

His advocacy helped advance and defend critical federal investments, including:

  • Mental health services for students and schools

  • Counselor and school psychologist workforce expansion

  • Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act

  • Title I and Title II funding to address educator shortages

  • School safety and facility modernization through federal infrastructure investments

Protections and resources under Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)Benny understands how Washington works, and how to make it

work for the people. He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, two master’s degrees, and multiple

Arizona leadership certifications. Just as important, he brings a proven record of ethical leadership,

fiscal responsibility, and results focused governance that Arizona deserves in Congress. Benny is

blessed to be married to his wife, Nanette, for 35 years. He is a proud father of four and a proud

grandfather of four. His commitment to family, community, and service is the foundation of his c

andidacy. Dr. Benny Rodriguez is ready to take Arizona values to Washington and fight for opportunity,

accountability, affordability, and a government that works for the people of District 6.
